WE WILL NEVER FORGET

As like so many others, I cannot remember what I did last week, however, I can remember quite vividly what I was doing 10 years ago today.  I was getting ready to watch Live with Regis and Kelly and was changing my 7 week old son's diaper.  I was mortified at what was going on and all I could think was, what did I do by bringing an innocent child into this world.  Like all the innocent people who lost their lives that tragic day, I brought my child into a world where strength, determination and sheer commitment to the greater good of all is witnessed everyday.

To all those who lost a loved one and for all those who helped on that tragic day, I hope that you one day find peace and know that I WILL NEVER FORGET!

Glitter Queens Blog Hop - Final Day

Wow, it has been a wild and crazy week.  It was the first week back to school and that in itself was a crazy ride.  First day of school some of the school buses showed up 2 hours late to take the kids home.  Kids weren't arriving at their house until 6 or 7pm.  Second day of school and buses werre better, but the last one arrived at the school at 5pm.  Third day of school, there was a 2 hour delay and then they closed schools.  Flooding caused the closure.  If this is what summer is like, what are we going to do when winter arrives!

I had fun and learned alot from this blog.  Originally I was set to only post one project that was to stay up for the week.  Then because it was so much fun, I tried to get more projects done but due to the crazy week I had, I only managed to get one more done.  I will be more prepared when we have a second blog hop and I hope that you come back for that one.

There is still time for you to get in on the BLOG CANDY I have for you.  Just leave a comment for your chance to win the Wicked Cool stamp set I have for you.

I hope you had fun and don't forget to finish hopping.  Prior to my blog, you should have arrived from Tracy's blog.  After my blog, hop on over to Anji to see what she has for you.

Thanks again and I hope to see you soon!

GLITTER QUEENS BLOG HOP - DAY 3

Hi everyone.  It is now day 3 of the Glitter Queens Blog Hop and I am having fun.  I have had such wonderful feedback on my first ever published projects and I have received such a warm welcome to the blogging world.
.
If you are at my stop, that means you just left Tracy's blog.  Don't you just love everything she has made.  I sure do!

Because it was my children's first day back to school, things were busy.  I work in the main office at their elementary school and OMG was it ever busy.  Our school hours changed this year and the end of the day dismissal was crazy.  The buses were running so late that it was 6:00pm by the time the last bus left the school to bring the kids home.  That is 2 hours after they were originally dismissed!.  Tomorrow is another day, so I'm hhoping for a much better day.

Due to the craziness of yesterday, I threw together a quick card for you.  I love Christmas and snowmen, but I am not quite ready for the season to start.  Because of this, I am still holding onto some colors that remind me more of summer.

The card base is made from Night of Navy cardstock and I used a little Designer Series Paper from the Cheerful Treat collection which can be found in the hostess section of this year's catalog.  I used the Two Tags die in Certainly Celery and stamped my images in Night of Navy ink and used White Craft ink to stamp some snowflakes towards the top of the card.  Isn't the Merry Winter stamp set the cutest!.  I finished off the card with Scallop Dots Ribbon in Melon Mambo, which is new to Stampin Up.  What a gorgeous color.

Well, that is my quick and simple card I have for you today.  I hope you enjoy it.  Next stop on the blog hop is Anji.  Go check out what she has for you.

If you missed anyone on the blog hop, you can find everyone listed right here.  Everyone has done such a wonderful job that you don't want to miss them, so here is everyone that you will need to see:

FALL GLITTER QUEENS BLOG HOP

It's finally here, the Fall Glitter Queens Blog Hop!  Not only is it our first blog hop, it is my first time creating a blog for everyone to visit.  I'm a little nervous, but I'm hoping that you will enjoy what you see.  The blog hop will run from Monday, September 5 -  Friday, September 9.

I became a hobby demonstrator to support my own stamping habit.  I've never had to create for anyone but myself, but I find the blogging world pretty cool and I want to jump on board.  Please be patient as I build up my confidence and my creative juices.

If you have reached my stop, then it means you just visited Tracy's blog. Didn't she do an amazing job!

And now it's time for my debut, featuring Merry Winter.  I hope that it's okay for my first time posting any of my work.  I know I have to work a little harder on creating something really good as there are many amazing stampers out there.

I wouldn't really call this a card, but more like a mini picture.  I used the Top Note die to cut out cardstock in Certain Celery and Chocolate Chip.  By scoring the Chocolate Chip one in half, it creates the perfect stand to display your picture on. I then used Rose Red ink to stamp the packages and Chocolate Chip ink to stamp the rest of the images.  A very simple picutre, but it has the potential to make an impact as part of a winter or Christmas display.

This next project is made with the Petite Pocket die using Rose Red cardstock. I'm not too sure that the picture truly shows what this looks like in person, but it is embossed with the Snow Burst embossing folder found in the Holiday Mini.  I then wrapped a piece of Pretty in Pink, also embossed with the Snow Burst embossing folder, around the pocket and stamped the images using Basic Black ink.  At the top of the folder I used the Decorative Label punch on Certainly Celery cardstock, stamped my image and then used Dazzling Details (found in the Holiday Mini) to add a touch of iridescent glitter.  It doesn't photograph well, but it is a wonderful, must have product.

Inside of the Petite Pocket I put cardstock using the Decorative Label punch  & the Ornament punch cut from Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink and Rose Red.  I didn't want to stamp or embellish these as I thought it would be good to write little notes or wish list items on.  You could even use it at a workshop to have your customers write their names on and use it in a raffle.

Thanks so much hopping over.  There is so much I've learned from my first hop:
- you need to have a plan and be organized
- you need to learn how best to photograph your project
- you need quiet time from the kids and be organized
- don't try to create a project when your craft room is in the midst of being
reorganized and you have in 3 different rooms of your house
- did I say you need to be organized

Well, thanks for visiting, but it's time for you to go to the next stop.  Have a good time as you hop on over to Anji's blog to see what she has to offer.

One more thing before you go.  I have a little BLOG CANDY.  Just leave a comment and I will randomly choose a winner for the Wicked Cool Stamp Set featured on page 24 of the current Stampin Up!  idea book & catalog  Just in time for you to create something wicked for Halloween!  The winner will be announced on Saturday, September 10.

Just in case you missed any of the stops, I will have them all listed below.  Thanks so much for helping make this hop a success.  I hope to bring you more creations throughout the year and hope that you continue to stop by.

Where is the Inking info?

If you are reading my blog, you're probably trying to figure out why there isn't anything regarding stamping & inking.  I created this blog in order to get ready for a blog hop that I will be participating in starting on Monday, September 5.  I hope that you will come back to see what the blog hop has to offer.  Anyway, I am really excited about trying to get my blog up and running, so I thank you in advance for your patience.

Hope to see you at the blog!

We Survived Irene!

Well, after panicking for a few days, the hurricane has come and gone.  I think by the time it got to my area it had been down graded to a tropical storm.  The whole thing was nerve racking so I am glad it is done with.  We had someone come and take some trees down the day before the hurricane (knowing that they wouldn't survive the wind) then we packed some things and went to stay with other family members.  Just a little water in our garage is the only thing that affected us.  I am just thankful that we are okay and that the storm didn't destroy my things.  The picture attached is from the mall in my town.  I guess kayaking is the way to go!  I hope everyone else is safe.

Hurricane Irene

So weird out here on the East Coast.  I live about 60 miles north of New York City and am nervous and confused as to what to expect with this hurricane.  Although I am not in the direct path, there is still some scary weather coming our way.  Do we stay in our house or do we find a place to go to? Do I have enough supplies in case we have no power for days?  I may not have enough snacks to keep my kids entertained, but I definitely have enough Stampin Up! supplies to keep me going.  Let's just see how much I get accomplished.

Hope everyone stays safe!

Getting started

Hi out there.  I am in the process of setting up my very first blog and I am having a hard time figuring it all out.  I 'm hoping that Barnes & Noble has a Blogging for Dummies book.

I love Stampin' Up products so much that I became a demonstrator to support my own habit.  I'm currently in the process of reorganizing my craft room so that I can best utilize all of my products and actually get some projects going.  So far I have been really good at buying things, but I never organize my time properly to actually sit down and get something accomplished.  I'm hoping that once my children go back to school, I will become a stampin fool  (LOL, that rhymes).

Ok, wish me luck.  Next time I hope to have some pictures or something up on my blog.  Any advice someone can give would be greatly appreciated.
